“LITERACY THROUGH DANCE” PROGRAM:
Literacy through Dance is a curriculum program developed by Haley Bradley. It is a program that integrates literacy into performing arts. This program will be separate from our regular weekly classes. Literacy is an important part of a young learner. Showing them how to guide their creativity and thoughts through dance will allow dancers to express themselves and evolve as a dancer. Literacy is a growing part of public and private school educational curriculum and we plan to illustrate it as a significant part of Center Stage Performing Arts & CheerAction. Students will be encouraged to express their thoughts verbally in addition to their performance. Students will also learn the elements of dance and the historical context of the art. Performing can be a way for students to connect their knowledge to the world that they may not be able to do in a traditional classroom. This program will be available to kids in elementary and eventually middle school. We believe this program will encourage awareness of the arts, instill a mentoring spirit, and create a personal literate awareness that students would not be able to experience anywhere else. Literacy through Dance is currently available through the Jenks Community Education program at Jenks West Elementary and Jenks East Elementary. You may enroll in Literacy through Dance via their website at http://jenkscommunityed.com. If you would like the Literacy through Dance program in your child's school, please email or call us.
ADOPT A DANCER:
Adopt a Dancer was founded by Natalie Wilson in 2008 when she noticed the need for financial aid for some dancers. “It was heartbreaking to see the dancer enjoy dance so much, and the heartache visible on the parent’s face while writing a check she knew she couldn’t afford.”~Natalie Wilson. The Adopt a Dancer program offers area businesses and individuals the opportunity provide financial aid for a dancer who shows excellent ability and desire to perform. Businesses and individuals may choose to “adopt” a dancer or performer by making monthly tuition payments or by making a one time donation that would go to costume fees, recital fees, attire, etc. CSPA and Cheer Action will match funds up to $1000, providing each year, one $500 scholarship to a dancer and one $500 scholarship to a cheerleader in the surrounding area who displays excellent performance abilities and excellent academics with plans on attending college. All donations are tax-deductible.
RENTAL OF OUR FACILITY:
Our facility will be available for rent during “open gym” hours, from 8:00pm –10:00pm, and during any hours in which CSPA and CheerAction are not holding regular classes. Existing dance groups and cheer squads in need of a place to practice are welcome. Rental of the facility is also available to school groups or any other organization needing a venue for mixers, dances, banquets, benefits, etc.
